Advocacy and Leadership
Through our in-prison programming, Land Together empowers people to become restorative justice, environmental, climate, and food justice leaders in prisons, and in the communities to which they return.
Through our advocacy, coalition-building, technical assistance provision, and thought leadership work, we influence policy, practice, and culture shifts in prisons, organizations, and government agencies serving system-impacted people.
Among other movement building initiatives, Land Together is a founding member of Transformative Programming Works, a coalition of formerly incarcerated leaders and 96 community organizations advocating for decarceration through increased access to meaningful in-prison programs, divestment from punitive systems, and investment in community-based healing practices.
Land Together advocates for systems change in four key areas:
In 2025, Land Together will launch California’s first Prison Environmental Justice Advisory Board to build the capacity of people in prison and reentry to have a meaningful voice in government decision-making processes related to environmental and climate justice issues that directly impact their lives.
